Description This module will equip students with a good working knowledge of how cell biology fundamentally underlies our understanding of tissues and organs, leading to more complex physiological systems. Specific focus will be placed on understanding how major physiological systems are regulated and how they work in an integrated fashion to drive biological responses within the body. The main systems covered include: Cardiovascular, Endocrine, Respiratory, Integumental, Urinary, Lymphatic and Digestive systems.
Learning Outcomes 1. LO1: Describe the major systems of the body and understand how they are regulated in an integrated fashion. 2. LO2: Understand how disease pathologies arise as a result of system dysregulation. 3. LO3: Understand how drug interactions can be used to modify physiological system responses. 4. LO4: Correlate basic cell biology principals to physiological systems. 5. LO5: Appreciate the value of physiology as an experimental and clinical science discipline.
