Description

The course is conducted through German. Classroom sessions are interactive and learner-centered. The syllabus focuses on increasing the language fluency and accuracy as well as covering essential German cultural aspects through a variety of tasks, class activities and group projects. Students will be asked to work in pairs/groups and complete a variety of language assignments/tasks. These can include but are not limited to role-plays/interviews/mini-dialogues language and cultural quizzes/cloze-tests/grammar exercises written/aural/video comprehension exercises based on newspaper articles/extracts from novels or short stories/radio/television news or current affairs programmes/songs and video clips group presentations based on short specific projects (e.g. organising and describing a weekend trip to German, describing a Irish or German game, watching a German film and presenting a film review, etc.)

Learning Outcomes

1. Engage with texts, both written and oral, from a wide-range of authentic resources
2. Describe in German, using the relevant grammatical structures and vocabulary, an experience or situation, at A2 level of fluency.
3. Perform a simple and effective group oral Powerpoint presentation in German
4. Demonstrate grammatical awareness and accuracy at A2 level
5. Write a clear, well structured report on his/her learning experience and outcomes
