Description This module develops a wide range of practical musical skills in Performance, Keyboard Harmony and Music Technology. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Extend their musicianship through the development of technological skills using MT software, e.g. Finale, Cubase, Digital Performer & Band in a Box. 2. Develop musical perception and proficiency in aural training, keyboard harmony, instrumental and choral performance, and sight-reading. 3. Develop their aural and listening skills. 4. Learning Activities Music TechnologyUnderstanding MIDI: working with MIDI Files; MIDI on the Internet; Using Finale: preparing a Lead Sheet; playback of scores; extracting parts. Working with Band in a Box: recording /constructing songs; using different styles/instruments; mixing down to CD; converting and editing files.Music Performance/MusicianshipListening skills:aural perception; dictation; stylistic analysis; Keyboard harmony: Improvisation; Harmonisation of melodies/hymn tunes at the keyboard; Score reduction; piano accompaniment; Instrumental performance and sight-reading; Group music-making: experience of choral and /or instrumental directing/conducting. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
