Description This module, taught entirely through Spanish, aims to develop students’ language competence and fluency in written and spoken production to an upper-intermediate level. Students will encounter a variety of multimodal activities in order to develop digital literacy and a variety of cognitive abilities like critical thinking and persuasive discourse in a variety of communicative contexts. Learning Outcomes 1. Undertand the main reasons for and against an argument or idea in a discussion from a recorded or broadcast audio material on topics of personal interest delivered in clear standard speech. 2. Communicate clear, detailed descriptions and presentations on a wide range of subjects related to the student´s field of interest, expanding and supporting ideas with subsidiary points and relevant examples. 3. Produce a clear, detailed texts on a variety of subjects related to the student field of interest, being able to evaluate information and arguments from a number of sources. Increased knowledge of text type conventions and sociolinguistic appropriateness in a variety of texts such as personal emails, online interactions, reports etc. 4. Applied the knowledge acquired of intermediate language and structures to communicate efficiently in different situations, being able to give clear descriptions, express viewpoints, and develop arguments without much effort of searching for words, using simple language structures and some complex grammatical forms, although the use of a complex structure may present some inaccuracy. 5. Identify differences in sociolinguistic and cultural conventions to be able to negotiate mutual understanding between the target culture and your own culture. 6. Make effective use of digital technologies to support self-regulated learning processes, i.e. to monitor and reflect on student own learning, providing evidence of progress. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
