Description This course will introduce participants to the elements of ritual, symbol, tradition and narrative that are central to an understanding of the liturgy. The principal focus will be the celebration of the Eucharist. It will also cover the liturgical seasons and main festivals with some comparative references to world religions. Though working together in liturgy groups the students will gain experience of preparing liturgy. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the main liturgical principles and themes. 2. Discuss the history and tradition of Christian liturgy 3. Demonstrate the ability to prepare a Eucharistic liturgy for a variety of occasions 4. Identify and select suitable liturgical music from a wide repertoire 5. Work collaboratively with others, cherishing difference and promoting unity of purpose in the preparation of liturgies. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
