Description This module offers an introduction to a number of philosophical voices from outside of the “Western” tradition, through a close reading of a selection of representative primary and secondary texts. The module complements and builds upon the knowledge gained in previous philosophy modules and seeks to expand this beyond the traditional boundaries. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate familiarity with a number of non-Western thinkers and ways of thinking 2. Problematize concepts such as Western and Western philosophy 3. Understand how a number of cultures have thought systematically about fundamental questions of truth and ways of being in the world 4.
