Description

This module introduces students to the fields of biotechnology and bioprocessing. The difference between these disciplines is explained and the key skills required to be a biotechnologist and/ore a bioprocessing specialist are explained. The emphasis is on active learning and project work done individually and in teams.

Learning Outcomes

1. Describe the role of bioprocess engineering in biotechnology and bioprocessing
2. Describe the role of design, modelling and simulation in bioprocessing
3. Research a topic related to biotechnology or bioprocessing
4. Present orally on a topic related to biotechnology or bioprocessing
5. Appreciate the rnage of careers available to biotechnology and bioprocessing graduates
6. Describe the key role that scale-up plays in bioprocessing
