Description

This course introduces students to the principles of heat and mass transfer and their applications in bioprocessing, especially in bioreactors. Students will develop a deep understanding of the mechanisms governing heat and mass transfer, as well as how these principles are applied to various bioprocess operations such as fermentation, sterilisation, and separation techniques.

Learning Outcomes

1. Understand the fundamental principles of heat and mass transfer and their relevance to bioprocessing.
2. Apply mathematical models and equations to solve heat and mass transfer problems in bioprocessing contexts.
3. Analyze and design bioprocess operations considering heat and mass transfer considerations.
