Description
The purpose of this module is introduce students to the reality of a sustained immersion in a business, or business-related organisation. Students will be expected to function as full-time employees of these organisations, ideally for 6 months, in a role related to their DCU programme. During this time it is intended that they gain the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned previously during their course and the opportunity to reflect both on their performance and learning during the placement.

| Oral Examination | A site visit by an appointed academic tutor to the placement location (or telephone contact in case of overseas placeement), where the tutor will complete a form detailing the industrial performance of the student, the conditions of employment and the employer's perception of the student's performance. | 0% | Week 1 | | Report(s) | In order to complete INTRA, each student must submit an INTRA Report, to be emailed to intra@dcu.ie. The report is marked by the student's INTRA Tutor and must achieve a “satisfactory” rating. The purpose of the INTRA Report is to provide the student with an opportunity to document and evaluate their experience in the work place and comprises a reflective journal, a self-evaluation of performance and a self-development plan. The deadline for submission of the INTRA report is 17.00 hrs Friday 30th September 2011 | 100% | Week 1 |

RC1: A resit is available for both* components of the module.
RC2: No resit is available for a 100% coursework module.
RC3: No resit is available for the coursework component where there is a coursework and summative examination element.
* ‘Both’ is used in the context of the module having a coursework/summative examination split; where the module is 100% coursework, there will also be a resit of the assessment
