Description
This module will promote knowledge of the recommended intakes of nutrients for good health, the relationship between nutrition and health and the policies and strategies currently in place to promote health through nutrition. Populations at risk and current priorities will be explored.

Learning Outcomes
1. Comprehend nutrient intake recommendations across the lifecycle (macro and micronutrients) 2. Understand the dietary guidelines for good health 3. Be familiar with the principles of nutrition epidemiology 4. Appreciate current trends in nutrition intake and status nationally and internationally 5. Be familiar with the methods employed in nutrition research 6. Appreciate the priority issues in public health nutrition at the current time 7. Understand policies and interventions currently implemented to improve public health nutrition, in national and international contexts

Indicative Content and Learning Activities
Topics In this module students will gain a good understanding of the
components that make up a balanced diet across the life cycle. The module will cover the relationship between diet, health and illness. Contemporary issues such as climate change and nutrition will be covered.
