Description
The aim of this module is to introduce students to a range of modernist and postmodernist narrative by Irish, British and American writers of the twentieth century
|
Learning Outcomes
1. Describe how postmodermism developed out of modernism and identify its distinguishing features 2. Understand the relationship between postmodernist literature and broad movements in the arts in general 3. Articulate the relationship between postmodern culture and technology 4. Describe the treatment of postmodern concepts in selected postmodern films 5. Discuss the variety of poetic responses to postmodernism 6. Understand the significance of key postmodernist theoretical writings by Barthes, Lyotard and Baudrillard.
