Description
In this module, students begin musicological studies with a variety of topics from the following: Western Art Music, Popular Music, and Film Music; additionally, they are engaged in various forms of discussion and engagement in listening, independent study, and group work.

Learning Outcomes
1. Show an understanding and greater awareness of musical topics and works from a broad range of styles 2. Analyse and appraise periods of Western Art Music, in cultural and historical contexts, alongside select topics in popular and film music 3. Apply musicological information and analytical skills in researching and communicating informed assessments of music across a range of stylistic and socio-historical contexts 4. Listen to, read, and critique relevant texts relating to its study, practice, and performance 5. Develop critical transferable competencies through engaging in independent study and group work tasks
