Description

A module designed to introduce learners to the use of computer software as an aid to composition. To show how Digital Audio Workstations and notation software can be used in tandem with each other to aid creative work and utilise composing time efficiently

Learning Outcomes

1. Be able to use Studio One sequencer programme effectively and creatively
2. Be able to use MuseScore notation programme effectively and creatively
3. Be able to use both programmes as an efficient composition aid and tool
4. Show an ability to realise a composition written for performers through a computerised process

RC2: No resit is available for a 100% coursework module.
RC3: No resit is available for the coursework component where there is a coursework and summative examination element.

The use of the computer as a creative tool
A module designed to develop a thorough understanding of the use of the computer as a creative tool through such techniques as: - Use of sequencing software - Editing MIDI, - Effective use of quantizing, looping, instrument assignment and layout. - Use of notation software - Score creation, - Score layout, - Note entry and editing, - Use of repeat signs and rehearsal letters, articulations, - Chord symbol entry and page layout.
