Description

The aim of this module is to teach students how to draw together all aspects of the programme to successfully deal with patients in an environment of “almost independent” practice wherein the academic staff provide support “from a distance”. Students will 1. Manage the Student Led Clinic through the semester, 2. Attend and document team placements, 3. Attend and document placements with chronic illness populations, 4. Refresh emergency care training.

Learning Outcomes

1. Assess an injured patient utilising all the guidelines and clinical skills to which he/she has been exposed to during the programme
2. Produce documentation and clinical notes to the appropriate standard required in clinical practice
3. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and other allied healthcare professionals
4. Manage a patient from initial assessment to return to play or work both in a team and clinical environment for healthy and chronically ill populations
5. Prescribe and engage with one-on-one and group exercise sessions for the chronically ill
6. Refresh emergency care training

Indicative Content and Learning Activities

Student Led Clinic
Manage, attend, learn and engage with Student Led Clinic on a weekly basis. Support fellow students in Year 2 and Year 3 through the clinical reasoning process.

Team Placement
Attend and lead assigned team placements, and collaborate with fellow students from year 2 and 3 of the programme. Complete all required documentation.

Chronic Illness Placement
Attend and document assigned weekly chronic illness placement at ExWell Medical.

Emergency Care
Refresh emergency care training
