Module Aims
  • To provide an understanding of the role of human resource management in international firms, in particular those that operate in an European context
  • To consider global emerging markets and their implications for HR practice
  • To identify the HRM strategies that are required in international firms
  • To foster the development of the knowledge and understanding of HR issues required for managing in an internaional context
  • To explore tools for talent management
  • To foster effective and sensitive management of the multicultural workplace
  • To recognise the inter-linkages between international HRM and other modules

This module will enable students to identify international trends and to deal competently with issues of worker mobility, migration and repartriation.



Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module students wil have:
  • a through knowledge of the research literature on intrnational HRM
  • a clear understanding of the major issues faced by Human Resource Managers operating in multinational settings, and an awareness of how to develop strategies for effective management of these issues
  • a sensitivity to the influence of culture on HRM
