Module Aims

To give future managers and personnel specialists information needed to choose efficient tools for selection and assessment;train future personnel specialist and human resource specialist in the use, development and assessment of tests and other techniques used for selection and recruitment, internal and extrenal.

This module will enable students to discern the critical developments in the area of selection and assessment; to cull the fads from the methods of rigour. Tools are assessed for their validity, reliability and practical value. Students are made familiar with tests to evaluate these tools. Macro-developments and how to access information on such trends will also be detailed.



Learning Outcomes
  • Students will have reviewed the array of recruitment and selection models and techniques commonly utilised.
  • Students will be able to interpret orgainisational selection and recruitment requirements and table detailed proposals relevant to cases given.
  • Students will have a full understanding of the advantages and weaknesses of various selection and assessment tools, including the range of ability and aptitude tests and their applications.

Students will gain valuable insights and develop applied skills in the Selection Skills Workshops which are integral to this module
