Module Aims

The aim of this module is to facilitate the transition of the student into third level education, enabling them to perform effectively and efficiently at third level. This module will also facilitate the student in appreciating the professional aspect of nursing.



Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module and following period of personal study students will be able to:

·         Recognise their learning needs and limitations.

·         Recognise the variety of information sources which contribute to nursing knowledge.

·         Appreciate the importance of professional behaviour in the conduct of nursing.

·         Appreciate accountability, responsibility and confidentiality as it relates to nursing care.

·         Appreciate the principles of stress management.

·         Understand the basics of Information Technology (IT) in accessing information, communicating and processing documents.

Demonstrate an understanding of the skills needed for academic writing.
