Module Aims
Module Aim:- To enable students to reflect more deeply on the complexity of the human experiences of health, sickness, disability and death and the finding of meaning and hope through studying the expression of these experiences in the arts and humanities.- To encourage students to explore the nature of nursing and caring and discover more creative, imaginative approaches to nursing roles and patient care.- To foster the students own creativity and personal development

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the student will be able to:Use a range of interpretative approaches to reflect on people's experiences of health. Illness and caring.Through study of arts and media, discuss how contextual and cultural factors influence people's perceptions and articulation of health, illness and caring.Demonstrate greater sensitivity to the lived experiences of people in relation to health and illness.Discuss the portrayal of nursing in the arts and media and reflect on the nature of nursing.Reflect on the nature, experience and complexities of caring from recipient and care-giver accounts.Identify and use arts and humanities for personal creativity/ fulfilment and considered approaches to patient care.
