Module Aims
This module sets the level A2 from the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) as its minimum exit level. It aims to enable students to: •Develop lifelong language learning strategies •Consolidate oral and written competence in Spanish language •Increase awareness and knowledge of essential aspects of the contemporary and Hispanic world Acquire transferable skills such as team work, communication and presentation skills through a variety of class activities and assignments

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module, students will be able to: • Understand the main points of clear standard speech related to the various chosen themes • Read and understand a variety of texts on these topics and notice differences between the students’ culture and Spanish-speaking cultures • Interact with peers through the practice of role-plays/ class debates/ unprepared conversations on familiar topics • Describe orally and in writing an experience, situation or procedure and express an opinion • Perform a simple and effective oral presentation • Improve grammatical awareness and accuracy • Reflect on and communicate to others their language learning experience and outcomes

Indicative Syllabus
Classroom sessions are interactive and learner-centered. The syllabus focuses on increasing language fluency and accuracy as well as covering essential cultural aspects through a variety of tasks, class activities and group projects. Students will be asked to complete a variety of language assignments/tasks, occasionally in pairs/groups. These tasks can include but are not limited to: • * role-plays/interviews/mini-dialogues • * language and cultural quizzes/cloze-tests/grammar exercises • * written/aural/video comprehension exercises based on newspaper articles/television • news or current affairs programmes/ video clips • * group presentations based on short specific projects • * essay writing • * illustrate an understanding of textual words and phrases through rephrasing exercises
