Description The aims of this module are: to provide an appreciation of the importance of having joint procedures, their content and construction; to develop an understanding of collective bargaining and to practise it in a roleplay situation; to introduce the student to other bargaining forms useful in particular situations. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Differentiate between various procedural agreements in the workplace e.g. discipline, grievance, dispute, redundancy. 2. Explain collective bargaining in all its forms e.g. decentralised, national, productivity. 3. Illustrate the major elements of collective agreements and how binding on employees and employers they might be in various circumstances. 4. Discuss the process of negotiations between employees and employers and the conventions which are crucial for the respective negotiators to abide by. 5. Learn to handle oneself in a practical bargaining situation by taking part in an extensive negotiating role play exercise. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
