INACTIVE - To introduce students to the history, development and modalities of political communication in Ireland through a combination of lectures and case studies

Learning Outcomes

1. Conceptualize, research and write an original essay demonstrating understanding of a significant dimension of media and politics
2. Discuss the relationship between press and politics in Ireland, drawing upon relevant political and communication theories
3. Synthesize significant amounts of professional and academic literature in a comprehensible and organized manner
4. Identify and explain the most important roles of mass media and democratic politics
5. Access the Irish experience in an international context
