Description

The module offers an introduction to ideas and movements that have played a significant role in the social, political and cultural evolution of modern France. It will also introduce reading skills in French and develop basic techniques of textual and film analysis .

Learning Outcomes

1. Identify the dominant factors in the evolution of modern French society
2. Read selected texts in French
3. Evaluate selected films, text and graphic novels and place them in their historical context.
4. Analyse thematic and stylistic features of said films and texts and evaluate their relevance to the period studied.
