Learning Outcomes 1. Translate a range of general texts from Spanish into English. 2. Identify and explain translation challenges encountered with reference to concepts such register, text type, collocation, etc. 3. Indicative Content and
Learning Activities Texts/topics to be covered may includePoetry/songs/fairytales/ short stories; tourist brochures/information; journalistic texts: short news bulletins, article summaries, advertisements, film and book reviews, etc. Assessment: Examination: 100% Students will be asked to translate a text of approximately 200-250 words in length and will also be required to comment briefly on their translation approach and choices. N.B. The use of monolingual and bilingual dictionaries, thesauri and student glossaries (printed or handwritten) is permitted. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
