Description Building on skills developed in Innovative Technologies as Enabling Literacy Strategies for SIME, students will develop a portfolio of resources to teach music in SEN/inclusive educational contexts. Students will create soundscapes, songs, melodies and musical narratives in general tailored to the educational setting of their choice. Through micro-teaching sessions with pupils from co-operating schools, students will gain experience of producing, delivering and teaching a socially inclusive music education programme. The module will culminate in a performance of the newly created musical material, by the children from the co-operating schools. It is envisioned that the development of musical materials for student portfolios will be informed by different learning settings such as the multifarious ethnic and cultural backgrounds of children in Irish national schools, varying socio-economic backgrounds, ESL, SEN, and pupils’ diverse levels of previous musical experience. Differentiated learning will play a key role in the delivery of an effective SIME programme. Students will present the newly created material in a portfolio to include music notation and sound recordings. The portfolio will also include an integrated scheme of music lessons which provide details of how the SIME programme could be delivered in a school. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
