Description

Module aims to Introduce students to the concepts of Project Management. Make students aware of the issues in identifying and selecting projects and in planning, performing and controlling the project. Give students an understanding of the different possibilities in developing the schedule, resource utilisation, determining costs, managing risk, closing a project and related ethical issues. Introduce students to Project Management responsibilities and skills needed. Introduce students to Project Management Information Systems.

Learning Outcomes

1. Describe the phases of the Project Life Cycle
2. Develop a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), a Responsibility Assignment Matrix (RAM) and Network Diagram (PERT)
3. Utilise the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) project management methodology
4. Explain and identify Critical Path and Total Slack, Resource leveling and Resource-Limited Scheduling
5. Prepare a Risk Response Plan
6. Conduct a Post Project Evaluationb
7. Understand the responsibilities of a Project Manager and Skills needed and related ethical issues, and project management information systems
