Description

This module is concerned with identifying the various forms of social media and the impact they have on a wide range of social fields. It will begin with a discussion of technology, society and media, before moving to examine the various fields. Such fields include the economy, social relationships, personal and social identities, journalism and the media field, politics, games, and security.

Learning Outcomes

1. Map and critically evaluate the various changes associated with social media
2. Recognize the potential and broad implications of social media for society and politics
3. Critically examine the impact of social media on various domains of life
4. Demonstrate an understanding of the social and political role of social media
5. Evaluate the various theories linking technology to media and society
