Description

The objective of this module is to consolidate the students’ fluency and accuracy both spoken and written as well as improve their comprehension of written and spoken French. The content of the module is designed to introduce students to specialised topics related to business French. The module is conducted entirely through French.

Learning Outcomes

1. Scan and extract relevant information from a variety of written material related to business French.
2. Understand material presented orally in French, both live & online, on a variety of familiar business topics.
3. Produce concise and clear written texts on familiar business topics.
4. Research and present information, both orally and in writing, on relevant business topics.
5. Demonstrate a sufficient level of digital literacies to fully function within French speaking digital sphere.
6. Demonstrate a good command of the appropriate-level linguistic constructions and vocabulary, allowing gaps to be readily overcome with circumlocutions.

Indicative Content and Learning Activities
The module will cover topics related to the French economy and business in France. These will include globalization, entrepreneurship, innovation, COVID-19 and its effect on the economy, environmental issues, etc. Indicative Learning Activities: Students will engage with aural and written stimuli in order to complete associated tasks. These will include interpreting an infographic, answering questions and expressing their opinions in relation to material presented to them in the form of oral or written input. They will research a company and develop the skills that will allow them to present their company to their peers orally using supporting written materials. Supplementary online exercises will also be used that students complete in their own time and which give automatic feedback and provide links to additional resources.
