Description This module examines aspects of the political, social and cultural history of 20th-century Ireland, including the labour movement, the women's movement, and relations between Unionists and Republicans. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Display a detailed knowledge of some of the main features of the Irish Labour Movement in the early twentieth century. 2. Display a detailed knowledge of some of the main events/issues in the history of Irish women in the early twentieth century. 3. Appreciate how Republicanism and Unionism have both impacted on Irish political life and on the Anglo-Irish relationship. 4. Apply objectivity, perspective and a range of analytical skills in the reading and contextualisation of relevant documents and texts. 5.
