Description This course develops students' understanding of cognitive and social psychology and organisational theory, as they apply to the design and use of interactive systems. The course enables students to use the resulting knowledge, in conjunction with the tools and procedures learned in HS1, to understand users' needs, develop prototype interactive systems and evaluate those systems. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Evaluate interaction design using research on human information processing. 2. Assess the impact of computer mediation on social processes 3. Compare different theoretical perspectives on organizing (e.g. entitative and processual). 4. Carry out a structural analysis of an example organisation. 5. Explain, using examples, the psychological processes involved in organizing, including group processes, helping, impression formation, and influence. 6. Explain how people’s sense of self, and the processes of organizing that they are involved in, relate to each other. 7. Apply knowledge of organisational processes, such as power and leadership, to practical examples. 8. Evaluate research on how IxD mediates organisational practice. 9. Work in teams with classmates online. 10. Present the findings from their work orally and in writing. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
