Description This module consists of a work placement in a company or public body. The students’ role will be of a highly quantitative nature, relating to their coursework. Students can develop professional skills and use their financial and mathematical skills in real-world problems. Students will write a report on their placement, the mission of their employer, and a critical appraisal of their role and performance. The offering of this module is contingent on the availability of placements, and it may be replaced by MS510 at the sole discretion of the programme chair. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Learning Outcomes 1. construct a current and comprehensive cv. 7. Demonstrate professional attributes, such as attendance, punctuality, reliability, etc. 8. Write a well-structured report containing a suitable balance between broad overview and technical details. 9. Design and produce good presentation slides. 10. Communicate the key points of the proje ct to a non-specialist audience. 2. Source material relevant to a research project. 3. Identify, describe and formulate solutions to real-world financial and mathematical problems. 4. Extract and digest the main scientific ideas related to the project. 5. Assess the limitations of the specific approach followed. 6. Take responsibility for the progression of their own work under the guidance of a supervisor and to identify and discuss problems, differences of opinion and general issues as they arise. 7.
