Description

The overall aim of this module is to provide the learner with an understanding of the special challenges involved in managing and renewing an enterprise in today’s increasingly complex and dynamic global environment. Specific aims of the module are: • To develop a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges involved in the management of the business unit and of the total enterprise. • To provide learners with appropriate skills and perspectives to successfully implement change. The module is divided into three sub-modules Managing Change, Project Management and Risk Assessment, and Electives each with its own learning outcomes and syllabus

Learning Outcomes

1. Project Management • Review the nature, implementation and practice of Project Management and the role of the project manager • Examine people issues associated with project management including leadership, conflict, negotiation, project teams, motivation and reward • Manage financial, procurement and risk aspects of project • Evaluate IS/IT project management methodologies and techniques, such as PRINCE, PERT and CPM
2. Managing Change • Examine issues involved in human resources management, group dynamics and communication in organisations • Analyse the nature of learning organisations and managing technological change • Explain how organisations manage resistance to change • Evaluate the planned change and emergent change models for managing change in organisations
3. Electives (a) Supply Chain Management • Recognise how each link in the Supply Chain from raw material sourcing to final consumer is interdependent and must be strategically aligned.• Determine how information can replace inventory. (b) Logistics and Transport • Determine how to manage distribution channels sustainably, transparently, efficiently and effectively.
