Description

This module is delivered entirely in Spanish and aims to consolidate students' language competence and fluency with particular emphasis on the quality of spoken production. Reading comprehension and written skills are also reinforced through exposure to a variety of text types, including online language resources. Awareness of knowledge of key cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries is also increased.

Learning Outcomes

1. Engage with multimodal texts dealing with familiar and contemporary topics to find reliable information, and to understand the main idea and other significant details.
2. Produce cohesive texts (creative, factual, formal, informal, etc.) in Spanish on personal, social and cultural themes with accurate use of Spanish grammar and theme-specific vocabulary.
3. Communicate orally using simple interconnected sentences in both pre-planned and spontaneous situations being able to describe, narrate and formulate opinions.
4. Apply knowledge and control of the language system by completing a number of tasks at text and sentence level.
5. Demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and intercultural awareness on the tasks carried out individually or as part of a working group.
