Description The module analyses and provides an understanding of the key physiological and metabolic responses to acute and chronic exercise. Students will investigate and evaluate the key changes that occur to the various physiolical systems at rest and during a single bout of exercise as well as following a period of training. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Outline the key responses that occur to the various physiological systems during exercise including: pulmonary system, cardiovascular system, neuromuscular system and neuroendocrine system. 2. Explain the the fundamental principles of energy transfer during exercise. 3. Identify and explain various factors which influence the physiological responses to single and repeated bouts of exercise including: genetics, gender, age, training status, detraining nutrition, body position, exercise mode, intensity, duration and environmental factors. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
