Description This module will introduce the student teacher to key topics and principles of information and communication technology for the technology subject areas such as computer architecture, data communications and computer networks and the Internet. The student's knowledge of control will also be further developed in the module where the previous Applied Control module will be expanded on to support students in identifying, designing and evaluating control systems to include interconnectivity between devices through the use of a range of different connectivity protocols.
Learning Outcomes 1. Define operational characteristics of computer architecture, data communication and computer networks. 2. Accurately and securely utilise the Internet and third party web based technologies to support communication, collaboration and presentation for multimedia solutions to technological problems. 3. Employ transducer technologies to control electronic circuits remotely to switch devices such as bulbs, motors and solenoids in response to monitored signal conditions. 4. Control a connected device remotely using appropriate communication protocols and interface using a mobile device. 5. Appreciate the relevance and importance of ICT systems and connected devices for the development of meaningful and innovative solutions to technological problems in technology education.
