Description This module explores the letters that Paul wrote to the churches in Thessalonica, Galatia, Corinth, Philippi and Rome during the ten year period from 50 to 60 CE. Students will be introduced to the joys, sorrows, struggles and concerns of the members of these early Christians communities and to Paul's theological and pastoral response to his communities. The call of Paul and his subsequent missionary life will be explored prior to the study of his letters. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of current issues in Pauline studies. 2. Possess some specialist knowledge of certain key passages in the letters of Paul. 3. Engage with the issues and concerns that were of greatest significance to the Pauline churches. 4. Identify the defining elements of Paul's vision of God, Christ, church and Christian living. 5.
