Module Aims
|
The module aims to enable students to identify and analyse key issues in the areas of equality, access and inclusion of minority, ethnic and disadvantaged groups in society.
|
Learning Outcomes
|
Students will be able to:
Identify and analyse equality, access and inclusion issues at National and E.U. levels
Analyse current legislation at National and International level
Identify barriers to equal participation in Education and social inclusion
Critique some of the interventions to address these issues at National and E.U. level
Develop action plans to address issues of inequality, inaccessibility and exclusion.

Indicative Syllabus
|
The module will examine:
Equality to Hatred Act, Racism and Xenophobia issues, Equal Status Act, National Anti-Poverty Strategy
Current educational philosophy and policy in relation to issues of equality, access and inclusion
National and E.U. policies on the education of minority, ethnic groups, refugees, asylum seekers etc.
Educational interventions to break intergenerational gaps of poverty and social exclusion
Interventions aimed at providing access for disadvantaged groups to third level education.
