INACTIVE - The module aims to enable students to identify and analyse key issues in the areas of equality, diversity and inclusion of minority and ethnic groups in society.

Learning Outcomes

1. Students will be able to analyse the implications of catering for diversity in society and in schooling
2. Students will be able to identify the 9 grounds set out in the Equality legislation.
3. Students will be familiar with key EU and Irish Legislation on equality, diversity and inclusion in society and education.
4. Students will be able to examine the implications of educational inequality for individuals, society and schools.

Equal Status Acts 2000-2004,Employment Equality Act 1998-2000, Constitution of Ireland, UN Declaration on Human Rights, EU Convention on Human Rights and Freedoms, Concepts of Equality and Diversity, Education Act 1998, Education (Welfare) Act 2000, Religion and Education, Race and Education, Sexuality and Education, Gender and Education, Marital and Family Status and Education, Membership of the Travelling Community and Education, Disability and Education, Age and Education.
