Module Aims
|
The objective of this module is to further develop the students understanding of the design process and to build on the skills learned in the Engineering Design and CAD module through application in a design project.
|
Learning Outcomes
|
Having successfully completed this module the student will be able to:
7 Understand the key elements in the design process.
7 Generate alternative design solutions to meet design requirements using a systematic approach.
7 Understand the role of rapid prototyping in new product development.
7 Describe quality and regulatory requirements.
7 Perform a risk analysis for a product.
7 Explain the methodology of cost evaluation and value analysis.
7 Complete a design project using 3-D solid modelling, including optimisation and sensitivity analyses.
