Description The module offers an introduction to the reading of literary texts in French (short stories) in the context of the aesthetics, ideas and social & political history of the 19th Century. It will also develop basic techniques of textual analysis and commentary . | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Learning Outcomes 1. Read and understand selected literary texts in French from the modern era 2. Analyse thematic and stylistic features of studied texts using critical analysis vocabulary in French 3. Write a short commentary in French on an extract from the course texts 4.
