This module introduces students to the theory of sport and injury psychology and relevant psychosocial interventions. Students will also be introduced to general counseling and referral skills.

Learning Outcomes

1. Summarise and critically analyse key psychological theories and models from the area of sport and injury psychology.
2. Design an athlete-centred intervention based on a comprehensive needs analysis of the injured athlete and appropriate theory and research.
3. Demonstrate the ability to apply basic counseling and referral skills in a clinically sensitive manner.
