Module Aims
- To develop an understanding of the genetic complexity of biological systems
- To inform students on the current state of understanding of genetic structure and function in prokaryotes and eukaryotes
- To provide an overview of genetic mechanisms, heredity and evolution
Learning Outcomes
- A knowledge of bacterial and bacteriophage genetics, of genetic structure and organisation in eukaryotes, of population genetics and evolution, will be gained.
- A conceptual framework will be established to enable the student to understand the field of genetics and genetic technologies.
