Description The purpose of this module is to provide students with a broad overview of Organisational Psychology. It has been designed to help students develop a firm understanding into the field of Organisational psychology by balancing its treatment of both practice and research. In this module students will develop knowledge of key theories and concepts as well as the ability to make connections between concepts, both within and across various topics, and to apply this knowledge to organisational problems. Students are expected to attend lectures, engage in group work, prepare for and contribute to class discussions. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Describe the work of organisational psychologists in work settings 2. Apply psychological theory in work and organisational settings 3. Learning Activities Introduction to Organisational PsychologyAn introduction to the field of Organisational Psychology. History of the field of Organisational Psychology. Activities of Organisational Psychologists. Research Methods in Organisational PsychologyThe Individual and the OrganizationThis section will examine theories and empirical findings on individual behavior in organisations. Topics such as Theories of Employee Motivation, Work Attitudes and Emotion, and Occupational Health Psychology will be covered.The Social Context of WorkTheoretical explanations and empirical evidence on the social context of work and its relation to organisational performance.
