Description

In a media environment, increasingly dominated by digital media equipment and formats, students need to quickly familiarise themselves with ever changing technologies and concepts. This module aims to give a good grounding in how to use digital media equipment, digital media software and how to understand digital media concepts to help prepare the student for specialised production in years 2 and 3. Each student will be required to learn basic operational skill with Adobe Photoshop (Photo Editing) & Audacity (Audio Editing)

Learning Outcomes

1. Capture media with a photo camera and audio recorder
2. Login, open multimedia programs and perform basic edits using a Macintosh computer
3. Rename and hand up digital files onto a computer network
4. Demonstrate best practice in computer file management
5. Use Digital Photography & Audio software programs
6. Understand basic multimedia terminologies and concepts
7. Understand the concept of encoding and decoding technologies within multimedia applications
8. Demonstrate a conceptual understanding of multimedia principals such as: formats, pixels, waveforms etc.
