Module Aims

This module sets the level A1 from the Common European Framework of Reference as its minimum exit level. The module aims to build on the competences and skills previously acquired and to introduce students to new features of the language and aspects of the culture. Students will be familiarised with a wider range of everyday situations which go beyond those previously encountered and which will require the use of additional linguistic skills. The module also aims to develop further students’ language learning strategies.



Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module, students will be able to:

 

 

  • read and comprehend short texts and answer questions arising from the texts
  • describe themselves, their family and other people, their living and working environment
  • take part in simple and routine tasks requiring a direct exchange of information on familiar topics and activities
  • write simple notes and messages
  • develop an increasing awareness of aspects of the culture and society of the target language countries
  • critically reflect on their language learning experience
  • engage effectively in team work
