Provide students with an appreciation of the importance of being able to read research with a critical mind Encourage students to value the importance of research in nursing practice Provides students with framework for critiquing research, thus empowering and enabling them to critically review research literature Facilitate the development of a deeper understanding and appreciation of numerous research designs | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
On completion of this module, and following a period of personal study, students will be able to: Discuss the relevance of research to nursing practice Identify strengths and weaknesses of various qualitative and quantitative research designs Critically read research articles, reporting the strengths and weaknesses of the reported design Consider the ethical implications of research and the importance of considering the main ethical principles when designing a research study. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
