Description

To provide the student with an understanding of modelling and analysis techniques for random and deterministic signals. To provide the student with an understanding of basic probability and random processes in relation to signals.

Learning Outcomes

1. Derive an expression for the frequency response of a LTI system.
2. State the Sampling Theorem.
3. Simulate and measure frequency responses.
4. Perform calculations using the Discrete Fourier Transform.
5. Apply Bayes Rule to the calculation of error probabilities in binary symmetric channels.
6. Calculate the Autocorrelation Function of some random processes.
7. Use the Wiener-Khinchine theorem to compute the PSD from the ACF.
