INDUSTRIAL ENZYMOLOGY Sources and production of industrial enzymes; enzymes in detergents; starch processing and high-fructose syrup; use of enzymes for antibiotic semisynthesis; leather processing; cellulose degradation in the textile and paper industries. PROTEIN ENGINEERING Underlying technologies, incl. databases and bioinformatics; Case history - subtilisin; Insulin and its semisynthesis; Directed evolution of an enzyme. BIOSENSORS Definition & applications; biocomponents; transducers; design problems; developments in biosensors incl. examples. PROTEIN PURIFICATION & ANALYSIS Advanced Separations (Affinity, Metal-chelate (IMAC), Covalent Chromatographies Purification of Recombinant proteins (His-tag & Thioredoxin fusions , inclusion body formation etc).Genetic Manipulation of protein source for optimal protein/peptide production and stability .Capilliary Electrophoresis - Protein & Peptide Analysis.Large scale protein purification and associated problems of scale-up.Introduction to the concepts of Proteomics and Protein Microarrays BIOPHARMA & recombinant proteinsIntroduction to Biopharma Protein drug delivery systems | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
