Module Aims
|
To provide students with an understanding of the key issues involved in initiating and developing a new Electronic Business and to encourage and develop in students the entrepreneurial skills required for such a venture.
|
Learning Outcomes
|
Students will gain an understanding of the key technological evolutions driving the development of the Electronic Commerce environment. They will examine the technological and business issues involved in the creation of an E Enterprise and the consequent challenges for managers of such enterprises. They will gain experience in identifying E-commerce business opportunities, assessing the viability of these opportunities, calculating the risks involved, and planning to reduce these risks. Student will undertake their assessment in enterprise teams, requiring co-operation, delegation and leadership. They will have first hand experience of the vision, leadership, innovation, team building, general management, and hard work, that is required of the successful implement an e-commerce enterprise opportunity. This module will be delivered in a dynamic inter-disciplinary team teaching format by lecturers form Electronic Commerce and Entrepreneurship. Case studies will be a key feature of this module.

Identifying and screening new E-enterprise ideas, effective brainstorming, product benefits, and product concept development. Assessment and evaluation of previous business plans. Case Study. Amazon.com.
Value Creation using E Commerce
Understanding how E Commerce can create value for organisations through the creation of new products, new services, new markets and through enabling new business processes. Deciding the level of E Commerce at which to operate and the implications for the organisation.
Financing E Projects
