|
Module Aims:
7To explore and analyse key concepts and theoretical frameworks underpinning contemporary professional nursing and the relevance/relationship to nursing practice.
7To provide students with the opportunity to explore and critically appraise management issues in an organisational and health care context.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this module, and following a period of personal study, students will be able to:
7Identify and critically analyse management theory and its influence on professional nursing practice.
7Analyse organisational factors that influence decision-making within healthcare.
7Review the nature of nursing and professional frameworks.
7Critically analyse the concepts of accountability and autonomy in nursing practice in relation to contemporary developments.
7Analyse differing approaches to the leadership of teams and the nature of teamwork.
7Critically analyse and evaluate approaches to the organisation of nursing care.
7Prepare for the managerial role of staff nurse.
