Description The module will examine contemporary management and leadership issues which impact on health care contexts. Students will explore and debate approaches to management and leadership within healthcare organisations and examine how they influence their role as nurses within this context. Preparation for professional practice following registration as qualified nurses will aslo be provided in conjunction with Careers department in DCU. Guidance on careers planning including CV preparation, interview skills and identification of short to medium term career goals will be facilitated. Students will be exposed to a variety of learning activities during the course of the module including lectures & seminars and will be expected to participate actively in the learning process available. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Distinguish between management theories and their influence on professional nursing practice. 2. Recognise organisational factors that influence decision-making within healthcare. 3. Examine approaches to leadership and the nature of interprofessional working. 4. Analyse contemporary issues within nursing and their implications for practice 5.
